The right stuff

The right stuff is what separates

the good men from the bad boys

The right stuff is what our mothers whispered

as they kissed us good night when we were babies

Be nice, Be gentle, Be kind

Try not to leave your mates behind

The right stuff was hard stuff

As we grew up in a cold world

When decency meets stubborn rudeness

Something is gotta give

Only when we again

Become parents and have to train

Little ruddy boys

to keep down the noise

That we remember the right stuff

All over again

Do this dont do that

That’s what the right stuff is all about

And sometimes its confusing

But mostly it is clear

Hurt no one but listen to your heart

That alone is the right stuff
