The Girl in a Cafe

little white rabbit pretty as a bird

perched delicately as she reads her book

rouged cheeks and chiseled nose

how can I convince thee to give me one look

down  in the cafe while the fan hums up

sitting in the cafe while the music plays behind

we sit in feigned silence and ignorance

even though we are close to what we set out to find

you were looking for just a tiny adventure

and I was looking for  one last love

we didnt know we will find it so soon

the games the gods play from above

the white rabbit is a metaphor

for women too pretty to resist

the one is an analogy

to poets who chose not to desist

follow the white rabbit

down the rabbit hole you shall fall

or stay silent in the cafe

writing poetry in the hall
