Slumdog Millionaires of a Clean India

For millions of Indian kids, and quite unlike the movie Slumdog Millionaire, there is no pot of gold and Freida Pinto at the end of the rainbow.

There are at risk children, left behind to play with other kids as the parents work menial jobs, or even forage through garbage or reduced to begging or odd jobs.

They are ignored by their countrymen, the Indians, as they loiter in plain sight in urban areas. No one cares except for the drug peddlers, the rival street hawkers and the pedophiles.

For all practical purposes, India is a great country for pedophilia, with almost no arrests, no online monitoring of content and huge number of abused and at risk children.

With 1.2 billion people, life is cheap in India, and poor children in urban areas are cheaper.

The new Prime Minister has announced a clean India initiative. How can a nation be clean if the children are left to play in dirt?

I don’t know, you tell me
