Sacrifice the voices : Prose

I woke up hearing Elton John’s sacrifice in my ears. It aint no sacrifice at all. It had been a tough week. I had fired my business partner for not being part of the big vision. My vision. My vision could be wrong. But it has been 7 years since I have been doing my startup alone. I had hired a business partner only this year a few months ago.

I just wanted to know if my vision was correct. That the voices in my head were not voices but my repressed opinions.

So I started listening to Black Crowes ‘ Hard to Handle”

Boys and things that come by the Dozen
That ain’t nothin’ but drugstore Lovin’
Hey little thing let me light your Candle
‘Cause mama I’m sure hard to handle now

It is amazing how easy it is silence the voices in your head. Especially if they are singing like Elton John.

Reality’s right

we write we read

we hurt we bleed

we teach we learn

we pay we earn

all around us when they sing the capella

we are the niggers who wont be the jolly fella

all around us when they count their money

we are the bees earning them the honey

we live we win

we lose we sin

we love we fight

we wrong we right

all around the world people small and big

we are just humans trying to survive and live

all around this heat we are trying to be cool

when we are afraid they don’t know us fool

we down we die

we up we cry

we get we learn

we give we burn

all around the world they need a proper hug

when they pretend nothing is too big to bug

all around our home we have people who love

and for that we thank the Maker above

They told me

They told me I could be happy. They could free my mind. And when I relaxed a little. They stole all they could find
They told me they had the solution. I could leave my troubles behind. And when I took a nap. I woke up in steel chains that bind.
They laughed at my gullibility. They called me a silly boy. When I reminded them of friendship. They told me it was a business ploy.
Now enslaved and in chains I rue the choices of my past. While gathering my strength and my fury. For one more battle at last
