Persevere

When Covid is all around you

And you pray it hasn’t found you

When death and the carnage is too much

And the news leaves us in the lurch

–

There is the hope

this too shall pass

We shall rise again

Mowed down like grass

Hope and cheer

will soon be here

Till then persevere

there is a fire in my heart

I tried but could not start

there is a storm in my soul

adrift I have no goal

i had so many beautiful memories

i am now without any allegories

i tried to write a story

but I am covered with mud not glory
